(Ultra) Marathon Monday: In Training

Another 70k week is in the books. I also struggled through three crossfit classes. Still I feel like I am so BEHIND in my 50k training. For the first few days I was extremely tired. I don’t know what was wrong with me.

I blame The Walking Dead (seasons 1 to 3). Damn you Netflix! I stayed up way too late watching episode after episode. Never again will I start a television series at 9 p.m. As the week got on I felt much better.

I ran with John out at the Joffre bridge trail. It was more like bushwhacking though. My legs were ripped apart from the bushes and eaten by the mosquitoes. Not fun. It truly is a nice spot. We need to go back with a machete to clear a proper path. There were too many fallen trees and overgrown bushes obstructing our route.

My supply of Tailwind Nutrition finally arrived on Friday. One of the admin staff opened the box in the newsroom. I am glad I was there to intercept before it was given to someone else. I love Tailwind but it is very pricey to ship to Canada. $46 for an order. Ouch!

Friday’s WOD sure was a core buster! I didn’t feel it until Sunday when I was on my long run. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Who needs to work on their core? This gal! Holy Buddha!
Sunday’s long run was HOT. I’m glad I had my Tailwind to keep me moving. Around the 20K mark, I decided to power hike up this hill and float down. Hill training is an important part of my training now. Any chance I get to run hills I will do it. I’m trying not to over do it because that’s when trouble finds me.
Feeling good and ready to tackle another week!
