I’m over my big suck at the Calgary marathon. My right leg/hammie/hip isn’t completely over it but I am working on it. In the meantime, I’m back into the run of things. I feel great.
My only hiccup is my inability to stop eating like a horse. Is that a delayed side effect of running a marathon? Anyway I would appreciate your intervention.
Yesterday I made plans with Brent to run an easy 9.5 km. It was raining like crazy all day. Brent is a bit of a princess so I sent him messages all day – “Can’t wait to run” and “The sun is out” I didn’t want to be the one to bail. Thankfully the rain had finally stopped in time for our run.
We kept a our easy pace between 6 min/6:25 per kilometre. As part of my new training schedule, I have deterimed my easy/tempo/speed/long run paces with the help of a zillion training plans. It was tough to stay on pace at the beginning. We were running too fast but I managed to rein it in at the end.
We spotted this lovely family at Bower ponds. Brent told me not to get too close because the mother may attack. She just glared. I love running after a rainfall because it’s just so refreshing and renewing. After our run, the three of us ate pizza. Sona ordered our pizza so it would arrive after our run. Surprisingly it arrived within 30 minutes. I may have eaten the entire small veg pizza.
I decided to switch things up and go to crossfit this morning. Usually I like to go Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I had a horrible WOD yesterday so I wanted to make up for it.
Oops. I grabbed one shoe from two different pairs – a minimalist and a regular shoe. That wasn’t going to work. After getting a few laughs from the 6 a.m. crew, I decided to go barefoot. Not a big deal because there was no Olympic lifting in the WOD.
It wasn’t until the WOD was over that I realized I could have worn my walk about shoes. Duh. I am such a moron sometimes. Also today was the day I decided to wear shorts. Not a good idea if you’re going to do about 100 burpees. My poor knees!
So far it’s been a great start to the week! Usually I cannot wait to hide under the blankets after working a busy weekend. I am off to Edmonton today for a little shopping and visit with my cousin. We haven’t seen eachother in years. Strange that we both ended up in Alberta.
Happy running!
