I asked a few Central Alberta runners about their goals this weekend at the Calgary Marathon. Judging from their responses, it’s been a tough winter for everyone.
And without further ado the responses:
“I’m running the Calgary marathon to be an example for my kids. I’m trying to teach them to truly enjoy being outside and to realize that anything is possible.” – Cory on running his first marathon.
“My goal for Calgary was under 2:15, but I’m woefully under trained, so I’m probably back to Goal A which is survival!” – Yvonne on her second half-marathon.
“I want to redeem myself for a disappointing time in Toronto last year – I would love to come in between 2:15-2:20 this year!” – Shannon on running her fourth half-marathon.
“My goal is to encourage Miranda the girl I trained all winter … she is the reason I agreed to do the run. I’m so excited to see her do this!!! Makes me feel really good that I inspired and encouraged her to sign up and race!” – John on pacing a half-marathon group.
“I want to finish in under an hour. And be the best Steve I can be.” – Steve on running his first 10k race.
“At this point, it’s simply to finish. Of course I will try to beat last year’s time.” – Brent on running his second half-marathon.
“Goal for Calgary is to finish 50km in under 6 hours. May not seem fast, but will beat my last time of 6:32. Reason for running is the challenge of setting a goal and completing it. Also I have committed to running 100km at Lost Souls. Calgary is going to be a good test to achieving this goal.” – Mark on running his second 50K and first on pavement.
“My goal time is 4:15 and I am really excited about the race. It’s been a long journey training in the winter and I am looking forward to putting that big medal around my neck!” – Jennifer on running the marathon.
My goal is to not die. LOL. Kidding. Being it’s my first race in 2.5 years, I’m hoping to finish around 1:55.” – Lindsey on running her first half-marathon post baby.
Stayed tuned because I will check back with everyone for a short report after the races.
Can't wait to hear how everyone's races went!
Awe, this is such a good idea for a post! I hope everyone reaches their goal and has a great race. 😀
Good luck everyone!
Create an amazing experience everyone!
