Yes there's some rest for the wicked

I took a complete rest day on Monday. No running. No crossfit. Nada. (Okay I may have done 50 abmat sit ups but that was it). I can’t remember the last time I sat on my butt all day. Usually I count my crossfit only days as rest days.

Lately every body part has been screaming bloody murder so I knew I had to make a full stop or something would give.

I say this every time I taper but … the time! I had so much time on my hands.

What did I do on my rest day? Hmm I got up four hours before work. I cleaned my apartment. I chopped vegetables. I wasted an hour waiting at the hair salon (long story). I straightened my hair. I made my bed. I read articles from the Ottawa Citizen, the Globe and Mail and the Calgary Herald online.

I felt rested and alert all day at work. I told a few people I didn’t run or go to crossfit. They didn’t blink an eye or care one bit. I guess the world did not stop because I took a day to regroup. Imagine that? I was crushed.

I was so excited to run today because it was 18C in Red Deer. I am glad I ran near the Stone Circle. I watched this little girl play hide and seek with her mom for a minute. It was an adorable scene. I ran a little more than 10K. My right hip flexor was extremely tight so I didn’t push it. I am back to crossfit in the morning.

Oh and I stepped on the nozzle bit on my Nathan Vapor Shape. I am not happy. Now I have to scramble around to find a replacement. I bought the pack in Phoenix and they are not sold in Red Deer. Sigh.

How was your Tuesday?
