Inspired & Motivated

Wow. Boston Marathon.

I was very lucky that it was a slow news day on Monday. I watched the Boston Marathon at my desk while working. Those elite runners simply blow my mind away.  I got goose bumps watching Meb win the marathon. He has such amazing story. He once said hi on Twitter. (Small thing but I was a little starstruck!).

What an emotional day! I can’t imagine how it must have felt to be in Boston yesterday.

I knew I would be running a little bit harder after work. All those runners – all 36,000 of them – were so darn inspiring! I watched the race again after work because I wanted to hear the stories of the runners who were coming back after last year’s bombings. Words can’t describe how meaningful and emotional that the race must have been for them.

I didn’t know many people who were running Boston but I still had fun tracking online those who I knew were running like Dalton in Grande Prairie, Heather from Girl Goes Running and Sara from Life Between the Miles.

I kept thinking – one day I will be there! If the stars align it will be next year. Calgary is my one chance to qualify for Boston 2015. The deadline is in September. Unless I qualify in June, I have no choice but to try to run another marathon before September or try to qualify in 2016.
I have the Lost Souls Ultra 50k on tap in September so likely I will not be running a marathon in either July or August. Amber told me I should run a marathon after my 50K because I will be super strong and the marathon will be a piece of cake (or something along those lines). I still have the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on my mind.
I picked up the Canadian Race Guide 2014 from the Running Room. Looks like I have some light reading to do!
Did you watch the Boston Marathon?

  1. I didnt see a bit of it! boo. Work was busy and I was feeling very ill. Came home and went to bed. I've no doubt you will be there next year!!!! I need to get that race book 🙂

    1. I won't be there in 2015. I am thinking it's more realistic to say Boston 2016! Whoo hoooooo!

  2. Absolutely watched the marathon while at work…not much work got done that afternoon. I had goosebumps as the elite women took off and was quietly shouting at Meb to stop turning around as he neared the finish line. LOL
