We all know it is too easy to skip a run or workout when the life gets in the way. Sometimes I do minor trade offs with myself โ okay go easy tonight & you will rock it tomorrow โ when I am feeling like crap and I don’t want to run 400s or 800s.
Getting out is better than nothing, right? (I left my new sneakers in the closet.)
And in most cases the hardest part is getting out that door. Nearly 100 per cent of the time, I feel freaking awesome after about 10 minutes. I wanted to go to the outdoor track even though I ran 6x400m as part of my 7.5K run last night. No doubt the track was once again covered by a blanket of snow. Yes it is spring in Alberta.
I ran a lovely 10K and I felt freaking awesome. Most of the trail was covered in about two feet of snow and I still ran like I was touching hot coals (high knees and quick steps). There was a nice calm to the trails that you can only experience after a recent snow fall.
I didn’t have to work today because it’s a stat holiday. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. It was just nice to be able to sleep in a little and to hit reset.
