Canuck Running Bloggers (And those who love them)

A couple weeks ago I started a Facebook group – Canuck Running Bloggers (And those who love them). I read A LOT of blogs but I found the majority of them were not in my own country. I wanted to connect with more Canadian runners. After all we share similar experiences like the challenges of running in over ice and in blizzards. On the whole I can relate more to a runner running in -30C compared to a southern Calfornia runner who is complaining about the bitterly cold -1C temperatures.

I shared my idea to Tina. (I recently met Tina through the Calgary Marathon ambassadorship program) And she said go for it.

So far, so good. CRB group boasts 91 members from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta! (Hoping to find bloggers in the other provinces) No blog, no worries. While most members write a blog others are happy to simply talk running. Our group is about connecting, giving virtual High 5s and sharing our blog posts.

Who doesn’t love to see what runners are up to across the country! I didn’t know there were so many Canuck running bloggers out there. I love the different writing styles and reading about training programs and race reports. (Truth be told. I am a little jealous of the weather in British Columbia these days)

I’ve already learned about some races that I am definitely considering for the future! Eventually I would like to develop an online Canuck running directory.

There sure is a talented bunch of Canadian bloggers and runners out there! Inspiration (and a kick in the butt) is just a click away!

Last weekend, Deirdre in Ottawa posted a group picture with her running pals. They ran “14 glorious kms in -32C” that day as part of their training for the Ottawa Marathon.

She tagged it – We. Are. Canadian.

If you are looking for a kick in the butt or to read some inspiring stories, look us up on Facebook.
