You know when you’re in a relationship and things aren’t going well so you decide to take a break? You need that “break,” to truly figure out what you want. In some cases, you realize you are not missing someone or something. While on the other hand, you miss that person or thing desperately.
That’s how I have been feeling about Crossfit lately. I really miss it.
A few months ago, I took a break knowing I would decide my next move in January. (Read my break up post here.) There’s another Crossfit gym in my city but it’s just as expensive as my old gym. I have been hinging on spending so much money again each month because I am trying to save. And I wasn’t sure if I would like it better than my old box. Plus I still have friends who train at the old gym. I would feel kinda like I was cheating on them.
Ugh.
By some quirky sense of luck, the Crossfit gods must have heard my indecisive & rambling thoughts in my head. I was on the other box‘s Facebook page where I read about a 3-month promotion. They were inviting newbies to join the gym at no cost for THREE MONTHS. The only catch was you had to go three times a week no fail for the three months. If you miss a class, they cash the post-dated cheque for the three months. Video of workouts are accepted if you absolutely cannot make a class. That’s a good incentive to keep going to class. Seriously who cannot find three hours out of their week?
How could I pass on an AWESOME deal like that? (Let’s be honest here. I doubt I will stop going after three months.)

Maybe once and for all I will nail an unassisted pull up!
Have you switched Crossfit gyms? Ever feel like you were cheating? Can you do an unassisted pull-up? Can you help me? LOL
I have switched Crossfit gyms before and totally felt like I was cheating. I'm afraid that I am a long way off from a unassisted pullup. I still have to use 2 of the thickest bands. I think that's an awesome deal you get and way to keep someone motivated to keep going for three months.
Oh yeah I am cheap & I hate losing $$$ 🙂
That is an AMAZING promotion, I am SO jealous! I love cross fit but can't fit it into my current schedule with my training, but I can't wait to get back into it. I can do an unassisted pull up, the most at one time I could do was 3…I want to get better but they are SO hard!! I have heard that kipping them makes it easier, but I haven't gotten that move down yet. Have fun!!

Woo hoo for getting back into CrossFit! I haven't been going very much lately…my motivation is lacking and I need to get it back! I can do an unassisted pull up and the only thing I can tell you is practise, practise, practise. It took me a while, so I promise you can get one!

I did crossfit for a few months earlier this year and just LOVED it! I couldn't believe how quickly I started to get stronger! Unfortunately I had a few medical problems and had to quit but I miss the workout!

Burpee's do suck, I have a love/hate relationship with them and it's complicated. I haven't nailed the unassisted pull up yet but I haven't been back to the gym since the beginning of the year either. Think I need to get in there soon!
I can't comment on the crossfit box side of things (too rich for my blood), although I've stolen a good deal of info over the years from the website. With the number of new affiliates popping up everywhere I doubt you're the first person to shop around. I wouldn't feel bad about it. With all the competition, more and more of these boxes are going to have to start offering promotions like this to entice members. As for the pull-ups, my advice would be to do negatives (as in cheat/jump on the concentric portion and then just resist the eccentric as long as possible), as well as doing them every day (doorway bar, etc. helps) – low volume but every day.
