Happy Thursday! Gosh it was weird to have a day off in the middle of the week. I think it makes the week drag. Anyway a day off is a day off so I really shouldn’t complain. I hope you had a fabulous New Year’s Day.
Today I am super excited to feature Calgarian Leigh from All You Need is Love. I started reading her blog last summer. (You should too!) Leigh is also one of the #SCM 2014 ForeRUNNERS. (More on this later). In the meantime, scroll down and get to know another fabulous runner!
Name: Leigh
Age: 27
City: Calgary, Alberta
Profession: Labour Relations Assistant
Runner since: 2010
1. Why did you start running?
I started running in 2010 shortly before our wedding as a way to lose weight. I struggled to run a 3km loop by our house and remember thinking how much running sucked! Shortly after our wedding, I had more time on my hands so I was able to start training for my first half marathon. I love how running makes me feel (okay, minus the day after a marathon) …Makes me feel so accomplished and strong!
2. What is your fitness routine?
My running/fitness routine includes three days of running per week when I am in training, then 2-3 days of CrossFit and a day of rest in there. When I’m not training for a race, I tend to do more CrossFit and at home strength workouts.
3. What is your favourite distance to run?
Hmm … I think it’d have to be the half marathon. Long enough to test myself and still hard enough. I’ve run back-to-back half marathons (which I wouldn’t always recommend).
4. Best running memory?
Best running memory would be a toss up between crossing the finish line of my first half and first full marathon. Nothing quite beats that feeling!
5. Worst running memory?
Worst running moment would have to be at Melissa’s Road Race in 2011. I wasn’t feeling good in the days leading up to the race, which lead to me becoming dehydrated. The weather that year was 25C and there was not enough water stations on the course. I ended up with a painful stomach cramp, which meant walking the last 4ish kms. Not my strongest or finest running moment.
6. Do you run alone or with a group?
I am usually a solo runner. The only race that I’ve trained for with someone else was my first marathon. I’d love to find a group of runners to train with though! Oh and does my dog count as a training partner?
7. Dream race?
Dream race would be a big destination marathon like Chicago, New York, etc. One day hopefully!
8. How many medals do you own? Where are they?
I honestly have no idea. At least 10? They are hanging up in my office at work. Best one would be the HUGE belt buckle from the Calgary Marathon.
9. What is your current goal?
My current goal is to run my second marathon in 2014 and take time off my PR.

Nice that you feature other runners. . .I'll have to try that.
Nice feature! I SWEAR I didn't steal your idea! LOL… I just popped in to check out your blog and realized you did a feature runner post too. Well… great minds think alike! 😛 Awesome read nonetheless! http://confessionsofanamateurathlete.blogspot.com
