Three Nights before the Tucson Marathon

ARIZONA HERE I COME!!!!!

Whew. I had to get that out of my system. I’m done with the Big Snow and the Big Freeze in Alberta.

I say no, no, no.  My bags are packed. I am ready to leave this winter nightmare behind! My flight leaves the city at 5:30 a.m. and I arrive in Phoenix around 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Audrey will meet me at the airport and we’ll drive to Tucson in her flashy black corvette.

There’s a good chance I won’t get very much sleep tonight. I have to get up WAY early to catch my flight. I’m taking a cab because I don’t want to come back to a dead battery in a week’s time. I considered staying up all night.

There’s one bright spot this week …

I haven’t had time to fret over my marathon. I’ve been too busy whining about the Big Snow and the Big Freeze. The roads are slick and snowy. I don’t think my poor Versa would make it that far. She’s been parked since Sunday. I took the bus or caught rides with coworkers to work all week. (Thanks Renee, Murray & Mr. Bus Driver)

(Truth be told, the marathon is an after thought at this point. I just want to ESCAPE the MADNESS)

I talked to Audrey in Phoenix last night. I can’t wait to see her! She’s pretty bummed out because it’s supposed to be chilly on marathon morning. It could be much worse. It could be Red Deer weather. Quite frankly I would take a rainstorm over the cold that I’m dealing with in this freaking province. Besides we want it to be slightly cool because there is no doubt we will warm up in no time!

I don’t think it has hit me yet that I am running a marathon in three days. I feel like a slacker. I’ve run much at all this week. At least I will be well rested at the starting line!

I will be blogging while I am in Arizona! Mostly because I want to send the posts to my coworkers.

Send your positive vibes my way.

Happy Trails for now.
