Pink laces giveaway winners!

Happy Tuesday! If you’re anywhere in western Alberta right now you’ll know I am testing all my resolve to be stay cheerful!

Mother Nature blasted our region starting late Sunday night. Monday was pure chaos! Roads were treacherous. I am still a little shy about driving since my accident a few weeks ago. I did not want to chance a bone-chilling ride to work. Besides the city was advising residents to stay put.

Practically everything was cancelled or closed early. But not for me …. I had a meeting to cover at 2:30 p.m. I decided to walk to work. Yes. You read that correctly. I decided to walk in a blizzard. Usually the walk would take 18 minutes (or 10 minutes running).

Ugh. This was probably the worst decision on my part in recent months. The long, miserable walk took about 45 minutes. Nothing was plowed (and of course why would it be?). The sidewalks and the trails were up to my waist. I renewed my long-forgotten appreciation for those who depend on transit to move around.

I was a complete wreck when I made it to the meeting. Fortunately I caught a ride home (though I had to wait nearly 45 minutes out in the cold). Sigh. I can’t complain too much because it was my decision. A sane person would have taken a cab or waited for the bus. Not me. (I’m too cheap to take a cab and too impatient to wait for the bus).

Anyway today I wanted to announce the winners of my pink shoelaces giveaway. Thanks for commenting everyone! Sona, Becky and Brianna are getting pinkitifed!

Ever take a walk in a blizzard or other crazy weather?

  1. I've been watching the weather in Alberta and you folks are getting hammered! We lived in Edmonton for 7 years and I remember the wicked weather … I don't miss that but I do miss the Rockies. Here on our little Island on Lake Ontario we have green grass and clear roads making it difficult to get in the Christmas spirit.

    Stay warm 🙂

  2. I will usually walk my dog in any type of weather (he doesn't mind the snow, rain, etc), but it was blowing so hard here yesterday that it just wasn't worth it. Good for you for walking though!

  3. I really wish my company would have let all non-essential employees leave early, not just the out of town people. I got stuck twice yesterday, one with my son in the car.
