In pictures: Scenes from my week

I wanted to share a little of my work week with you. Usually I don’t post about my job because whatever I write is bound to get me in trouble. As you know, I’m generally super busy attending council meetings, tracking down sources and scrambling to meet deadlines.
Our city’s mayor, Morris Flewwelling, has held the title for nine years and has been on council for a whopping 21 years. The 72-year-old has been fair and straight up with the media over the years. We could always count on him for a colourful quote. He is not seeking re-election this year. After his last council meeting, I posed with a quick photo. No we did not purposely coordinate our colours. Super nice man. I will miss him!
We have our own table in council chambers. Council meetings are every other Monday. They can be very long. I usually tweet updates from the meetings. I started doing this in Grande Prairie at county and school board meetings. It’s still generally a new thing here but I think people appreciate it.

Right so we’re in the middle of a civic election campaign. Election Day is on Monday. I’ve been attending forums over the last three weeks. My pals Mary & Sona attended the final & largest forum on Thursday.

These nice ladies were serving up pie and ice cream at an event I covered on Thursday. I was tempted but I passed on the dessert.

I was called out to take some pictures of a collision on Wednesday. We don’t take many accident photos (thank Buddha). In Grande Prairie, I must have shot at least three a week.

I put in a lot of good miles this week. Success. Check Monday’s Training update for details. I bought this wonderful foaming bath this week. Love it. I put a little bit into my ice bath on Sunday. And that’s my mug of tea keeping me warm while I soak in the ice water.

I run across this bridge at least 4 times a week. I took some of the beautiful morning in on Saturday. Nice to have a different perspective on things.

This week Bobby Orr’s long awaited biography was released. I wasn’t planning on buying it but I heard the Q interview & watched The National interview. All signs suggested I should read it sooner than later.
How was your week?
