Getting into the Plank of Things

One of my goals is to hold a plank for 2 minutes every single day. It’s a short and doable goal. Who doesn’t have 2 minutes of their day to spare? Right so I am very late to the planking game. I remember a few years ago it was quite the fitness craze. I am bringing it back.

I’ve been convincing my running partners lately to finish our run with a plank. They love me for it. I’ve been doing it for a few months now. Some days are easier than others. I can definitely see and feel a difference. A plank is a killer exercise for your abs, shoulders and back.

                                     
I usually do the simple straight plank – arms lying on forearm, straight back and no sagging in the middle. (Yup I probably resemble the elephant pictured above). I’m not one of those crazy plankers who hold a pose on cars and weird shit. I simply get my plank done at the floor by my desk at work, in front of the T.V. or on the track.
