Marathon Monday: Week 2 Tucson Marathon Training

Busy week for running! It was also a week of being grouchy and feeling out of whack. I may have not given myself enough time to recover from the weekend. I bounced back on Thursday after my rest day.

For the last month or so I have been holding a plank for at least 2 minutes a day. At first I thought I would try to get up to 5 minutes by holding a few seconds longer each day. But then I thought I would just hold a plank every day for at least two minutes. If I felt good, I would hold longer.  I can feel my core getting stronger with every plank. Yay!

This week I ran with PEOPLE. I ran with Brent on Tuesday out at Riverbend. Great to have someone to push me up those hills! Laura and I met twice this week for intervals & a long run.

Week 2

Monday – 7km tempo run

Tuesday – Barbell club/Trail Run (hilly) 7 km

Wednesday – Intervals 4x400m for an 8 km run

Thursday – Rest/Barbell club

Friday – Crossfit (6x400m in WOD)

Saturday – 7.5 km easy run + kettlebell strength

Sunday – 21.5 km LSD

After my long run on Sunday, I took an extra long ice bath. My right foot felt slightly sensitive on the run. I really, really want to enjoy Melissa’s Road Race. These next two weeks will be crucial. I want to continue training and safely. Down with injuries!

Week 2 in the books and I feel great!
