Golden rule of running? Long runs are so much better with company. I was happy to join Laura for part of her long run. Laura is running Victoria in a couple weeks and she’s in the high mileage mode. Today she was slated to run 29 km.
I haven’t clocked much distance lately so I joined Laura when she finished 10 km. We met at the Running Room before we set off. Slightly windy to start, Mother Nature turned up the heat within a few minutes. I totally overdressed. But it was so great to run with Laura that I didn’t mind.
We didn’t really have a route in mind. We just ran until we covered 20 kms. Time sure flies when you are having good conversation and distance to cover. I definitely needed a good long run. Melissa’s is only 2 weeks away. I feel like I am little behind on my training. Today’s run was awesome.
Today was also the Terry Fox Run across Canada so we dedicated our combined 53 kms to Terry Fox. Laura heard that attendance in Terry Fox Run’s across the country have dwindled in recent years. That’s really sad to hear because Terry Fox started all these charity runs. I don’t do many charity runs because there are too many out there.
Seven years ago I ran the Terry Fox Run in Busan, South Korea with my friend Lucy. This was WAY WAY before I even enjoyed running. I can’t remember but I likely walked the 10 kms. Oh my how things can change in a couple years.
Do you run for charity? What are you favorite charities to support?
