Our WOD consisted of doing 2 power cleans and 3 shuttle runs ON THE MINUTE every minute for 12 minutes. There were five of us this morning. I was happy that I wasn’t the only one gasping for air. Misery loves company.
I counted the WOD as part of my marathon training. But I didn’t skip my planned after work run. I decided hills were in order. My races in September will be very hilly so I need to spend quality time with repeats.
My Garmin died AGAIN shortly after I began my warm up. I was not happy. I think it really is on its last legs. My Garmin saw me through my first half-marathon, marathon and ultra. Sad to see her go.
I didn’t let the little hiccup ruin my workout. I ran hard and strong up those damn hills!
After my workout, I went to the Running Room to check out the watches. I am eyeing the Garmin 910XT. It’s pretty expensive at $449 but I think it would be well worth the price. My little pal Catherine has one for her triathlon training. The little punk is encouraging me to buy one! I just can’t justify it because I spent copious amounts of $$ during my Nova Scotia holiday. Decisions. Decisions.
What’s your running watch of choice? Why?
Obviously, you know my answer is the Garmin 910 XT!! However, I've also heard good things about Polar. When I was between watches, I used the Runkeeper App. I'm using it now as well as I wait for a replacement charging clip for my garmin (it got stolen when my car was broken into). The runkeeper app is pretty accurate on the roads, but definitely off on the trails with lots of trees, but better than nothing I guesss!
I don't like that there's no GPS in the actual watch and you have to use an attachment. (At least that's what someone told me at the RR). Yeah I am going to use my iPhone for now but I absolutely loathe carrying it. Too bulky and annoying. Thanks for your input!
I wonder when the next marathon will be? Can’t wait to hear about it. Great post!
