All in a day’s work

As a reporter at a daily newspaper, I write for a living. It’s not terribly exciting. In fact most days it’s both frustrating and annoying. Unreturned phone calls. Angry people. Difficult people. I could go on but this is my happy place and I want to keep it free from my daily drama.

This week Red Deer celebrates Westerner Days. I’m working the afternoon shift so I’m responsible for covering all things westerner.

I’m thrilled that I get to spend time outside. It’s a struggle being chained to my desk day in and day out every week. Plus it’s a party atmosphere and everybody loves a party.

I’m also writing a first person on the midway rides for this Saturday’s feature. How much fun will that be? I’m super excited. I haven’t gone to the fair since I was a teenager. I hope I don’t get sick. Maybe I will find a random child to hold my hand on the rides.

Another blast from my past …. Glass Tiger is part of the entertainment line up. I loved them when I was a teenager. Today Leo pointed out the parallels of our names. Funny, right? Wonder if I can score a meet and greet with Alan Frew.
