Benchmark WOD – Angie

Megan and I decided to give the Crossfit benchmark workouts a go. Catherine threw her two cents in. And suddenly it’s Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and I took 23 minutes to do 100 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups and 100 squats.

Backing up …. last week Meg and I got to talking about adding some variety to our Crossfit WODs. We wanted to attempt some of the benchmark WODS – the Girls or the Heroes.

Later in the week Catherine bragged that she and Justin did “Angie” on Thursday. Catherine is working her way through “The Girls” this summer.

Angie is one of The Girls, benchmark WODs, which is “named for storms or anything else that leaves you incapacitated and uncomfortable but lured back for more the next time she comes around.”
Angie (for time):
100 pull-ups
100 push-ups
100 sit-ups
100 squats

It’s pretty simple. We had to complete each rep before moving on to the next exercise.
Sounds like fun, right? I invited just about everyone to join us for 8 a.m. @beckyainsley was the only one to join the party. Here we are in a random before photo.
Let me tell you about, Angie. She is not nice.
As you know, I’m working on my strict pull ups. Right now I am using a thick band to assist me with the pull-ups. It really sucks but I know progress takes time.

I needed 9 minutes and 43 minutes to do 100 (assisted) pull-ups. I started off okay but then I had to break up the sets to the point where I am only doing 4 or 5 at a time. Pretty ugly. My push-ups were pretty sloppy too. I just powered through them to the sit-ups. They weren’t too bad and neither were the squats. Megan & Becky were super strong in their WODs.
We jogged around the block for a short cool down. It felt good. I missed my run yesterday because of work & other commitments. Felt great to be outside.

So that was my Saturday morning. What did you do?
