My Running Weekend

Recently I heard someone say, “if it is not written down, it didn’t happen.” The comments were made in another context but I can totally relate. I find my training is much better when I actually see evidence of what I did and didn’t do.

I’m determined to track my training this time around. I sucked at it for the 50K. But I have serious time goals for my marathon this year. I have to stick to a plan. (Yes I have said this before!) This time I ready to go. Bring it on!

This first week of tracking, I was happy to ink 3 runs (two with company) in my log book. I also went to Crossfit 4 times (which explains why I am so sore!). All three runs were run at an easy pace. Pretty sure I am not ready yet for tempo or speed.

I joined Laura for two runs this weekend. Nice to have someone to talk to as I get back into the run of things. I met Laura last year on one of the runs. We have a lot in common so she’s easy to talk to. A big plus on those long runs and on those crappy-I’d rather stay in bed-days. Also she’s not caught up in the strict pace mentality. We hope to run our long runs together over the next few months.

Laura may even convince me to put Victoria on my race calendar in Oct. 13. Decisions. Decisions. I’m really tempted but I have already signed up for Tuscon on Dec.8. I’m wondering if it is a wise move considering the marathons are less than 2 months apart.

What do you think?
