I am still out of commission for running. So that gives me a free pass to do nothing. Wrong! John mentioned a trail near the Joffre bridge where his running group trains. You know I am always up for a new route so I begged him to take me for a hike.
John picked me up around 8 a.m. and we headed to the country – Red Deer County. The drive is roughly about 20 minutes from my apartment. I could run there but it would be a long go on the pavement. Maybe one day.
We started out just south of the Joffre Bridge on Hwy 11. We had to scale down an embankment and onto a quad trail. We walked along this scenic route for about 2k before we started our climb.
John led the way and I hobbled behind him. I loved being away from the sound of vehicles.
We found ice! You know I thought this was the perfect spot to do #Day2 of my 100 Days of Burpees Challenge. I roped John into joining the challenge too.
After leaving the quad trail, we hiked up and up. In all it was 15K return. We finished at Canyon Ski Hill. There was a lot of jumping over trees and single track navigation. Loved it. I’m definitely coming back for a run when my foot is healed.
