Stay the course – Run long on Saturday

This I know is true. I need less recovery time after my long runs since I started making Crossfit a priority. My legs are not toast after 4 hours on my feet. Sure they bitch a little but nothing like they used to. I take that as a sign my legs are stronger! Yay for CrossFit!

I set out at about 8 a.m. for my long run. I wanted 4 hours on my feet. My run would be a mix of road and trail so I didn’t worry too much about the distance. Time on my feet is the most important thing right now. I definitely ran faster on the pavement (perhaps too fast) than in the trails. There was still a lot of ice in Riverbend so I had to take it slow and walk quite a bit.
I listened to a couple of old Trail Runner Nation podcasts. I need all the inspiration I can get now. Less than a month before Blackfoot and I am starting to get super nervous. Last night I re-read Mark’s email and I realized he said he would likely be dropping out. What???? How did I miss this? I’m a little sad because I was looking forward to having someone I knew at the race. But you have to do what is right for your body.
My training has been so-so this winter. Now that the weather is better, I wish I had an additional month to train. I can’t change that. I just have to stay focused and determined to be at the start line on May 25.
