My new Training manual – Power Speed Endurance

My copy of Brian MacKenzie‘s Power Speed Endurance arrived a few weeks ago with my order from Rogue Canada. I haven’t had much time to read it but I have looked at the pictures. This weekend I am giving it my full attention.
Basically it’s a skill-based approach to endurance training. There’s something in here for every endurance athlete – swimmers, runners and cyclists – and CrossFitters! Pictures and straightforward advice makes this book worthwhile (especially for people like me who need things broken down simply as possible). At the back of the book there’s short WODs for the three endurance sports that I mentioned. This morning I test ran one of the hill WODs. Awesome. I felt awesome.
I’ve been excited about learning more about this “less is more” training since I took the CrossFit Endurance class last summer. It obviously clicks with my consistent CrossFit training. I can’t wait to try the speed WODs later when the snow melts! There’s also a section devoted to Mobility, of which I need a lot of WORK. Sections on nutrition, electrolytes and hydration is a bonus!

Cross your fingers. Hoping by following some of his advice I will take my running to the next level this season!
