Monday Crossfit WOD

Mention clean & jerk or snatch a few months ago and I would have either looked at you blankly or give a snide retort. I never gave much thought to Olympic weightlifting when there were dozens of other exciting sports to watch.

But since falling into the Crossfit cult a few months ago, I am quite familiar with the two weightlifting moves. Now I’m not very good at either one but I know the difference. I like the clean & jerk much better than the snatch!
Our Monday WOD consisted of 2 Clean & Jerk every 30 seconds for 10 minutes! There were about 8 of us this morning so there were was a lot of clanging of the barbells on the floor. On average it took me about 15 seconds or 18 seconds to do the two lifts. Then I had about 10 to 15 seconds to recover before another two. Believe me, my heart was racing after those 10 minutes.
Before the WOD we did a 1RM test for back squat, push ups and sit ups. I added 10 lbs to my back squat. And my sit ups and push ups are pretty much the same. Over the next week, we’ll be testing everything as we’re at the start of new six-week cycle. This is good because I am all over the map with some of my lifts because I haven’t done the 1RM or 5RM rests. Something to work from!
