At the track for some Yasso 800 fun

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with a nagging feeling that I screwed up something in one of my articles. Last night I woke up fairly early because I went to bed at 9 p.m. I started panicking that I made a typo in a story. I texted one of the editors in my panic mode. He thought I was nuts. The figure was correct.

Anyway I couldn’t get back to sleep. I browsed some blogs for a while before I finally dozed off. I didn’t change my alarm. It started beeping at 7:30 a.m. I hit snooze for another hour before I dragged my sorry butt out of bed.

Before I had time to process it, I threw on my running clothes. I had work to do at the track. I guzzled some water and age a banana. Despite my so-so sleep, I felt pretty good.

I ran the 3k to the LTHS track and warmed up before I got down to business. The business of the day was Yasso 800s. I am determined to run them once a week until my race. This was my second go around. I felt much better than I did two weeks ago.

Tuesday workout:
  • 3 km warm up
  • 4 x 800 metres (3:50, 3:45, 3:51, 3:47)
  • 3 km cool down
Next week I will add 1 or 2 intervals. I like running fast even if it’s only a few minutes. I was somewhat consistent in my times. My goal is to hit stay within 3:50 and faster for my repeats. Eventually I will get the hang of it.

(My achilles aren’t as sore as they were on Sunday. That’s a good sign. My shoulder feels okay today too. Yay!)
