Let the half-marathon countdown begin

In next month’s Canadian Derby Edmonton Half Marathon I will lace up for my 10th half marathon in 3 years. It seems just like yesterday I was gearing up for my first half marathon in Vegas (December 2009). You’d think I would have vastly improved my pace and my times since that fateful rainy day in Vegas.

Nope. My race times are all within a few minutes above and below the two-hour mark. Granted I haven’t exactly put all efforts forward in my training. Life, you know, gets in the way.

Anyway here I stand just three weeks away from what I know will be my best half-marathon. Best meaning, one that will leave me feeling strong and satisfied with my race. I have that feeling. Don’t tell anyone, okay?

This morning I ran 10 miles before I drove to Sylvan Lake to give my new suit a swim. And it was my first swim in Alberta. Loved it. I spent about 40 minutes in the lake. Truly I was zonked after the run too.

Adding speed work to my schedule this week. I can’t wait to get back to the track!
