Race Route: Sylvan Lake Half Iron

I like to have some idea of the race routes especially if it’s a half-marathon or marathon. I wasn’t too concerned with Sylvan’s route. I knew it wouldn’t be too hilly or complicated. But when Tiffany texted to say the route, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. What do you see?

I see four outs and backs for 21.1 kilometres. I see humdrum. I’m not sure how the race organizers came up with this silly route. Ask most runners and I bet most will say they are not fans of out and backs. This will be particularly challenging because it is such a short distance. The only positive is that I will be able to see my teammates. They can count my loops!

RUN RULES:
1. Must wear your race number on the front during the run. You may not fold or bend your number in any way. 2. A shirt must be worn at all times during the bike a run segments. 3. When exiting Jarvis Bay Drive and running along Highway 20, all runners must run on the dirt trail next to the Highway. Doing otherwise will result in an immediate disqualification.
