I’m fully into marathon training mode. This time around will be interesting as I try to squeeze as much CrossFit into my schedule that I can. I’ve drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid. I signed up for a year membership at Ignite. By signing up for a year, I will save some cash. Besides if I paid for it, I will go!
So far, so good. I ran strong this morning. Two days of rest has done my body wonders. Going to bed early and rising early is not too bad either. I think I have the hang of it. I was always staying up way too late doing nothing productive. Now I feel refreshed in the mornings.
In Week 2, I will focus on quality runs. I will run my tempo, LSD and hills with purpose. I love having a schedule. When I don’t have one, I get a little stir crazy.
Did I mention I bought Scott Jurek’s Eat and Run? I’ve been reading a few papers before I go to bed. Th other night I was reading a chapter where he kept mentioning brown rice. You know I love rice. I just don’t eat it often. I get in a rut that way. Anyway that night I dreamt about … you guessed it… brown rice. The next morning, I was craving brown rice. So I made a big pot before work.
I love brown rice. I can’t wait to finish the book. I like that there’s recipes at the end of each chapter. It’s almost funny that I am reading a book about a vegan ultramarathoner while I am getting hooked on CrossFit. Seems that most CrossFitters follow a paleo diet i.e. lots of meat. Right?
