Not only did I run in Canmore but I also did a little shoe shopping. I picked up two pairs of Saucony โ the Peregrine ProGrid trail shoes and the Type A5. Color me excited!
I’ve been flirting with Saucony for a while now. My Mizunos have sensed the change of heart. Catherine told me about this great shop in Canmore that sold running shoes and triathlon gear. We lucked out and found it straight away.
I tried on a NB minimalist shoe before I decided on the Type A5. As I was changing into my old sneakers, I noticed the trail shoes. Almost missed out. I spotted the Peregrine ProGrid at once. I knew they had to be mine. I did my research before so I wouldn’t get tempted by all the pretty, pretty colours.
This morning, I couldn’t wait to hit the trails. I went to my fav place to run, the Riverbend X-Country trails. It’s a short (5.6k) loop. Perfect distance to give my new minimalists a whirl. As I started out, I was impressed the lightness of the shoes. The “barely there” shoe weighs 8.7 ounces. Love it.
My CFE clinic is ending in another week. I decided to work on my technique while I conquered those hills. For whatever reason everything felt just right. The shoes felt snug and steady. Just what I needed. I’ve been using my old Mizuno Wave 13 on the trails which have no traction at all. The hills felt easier and the muddles called my name.
I never want to take these shoes off. Great first run!
