Bring on the speed: Starting my speed work this week

My habit is definitely formed. This morning I eased into my speed work. I’m excited to get back into the speed work.

I ran at an easy pace the 3 kilometres to the LTHS track. It took me that long for my body to wake up. I was happy to see the students were not out for recess. I hate an audience.

I was pressed for time. So I decided to do an “intro” to the next five weeks of speedwork. I simply ran 3×800 metres with a 400 metre jog between repeats. I didn’t hit my suggested speed because I wanted to ease my way into the repeats.

Next week I’ll work on a more structured speed workout. Right now it feels good to test my capabilities and know I can push myself.

Calgary marathon is 37 days and counting!
