When a Garmin doesn’t turn on……

I grabbed my Garmin from the charger. Dead. I put it back on the charger and waited. Nothing. I started pushing buttons frantically. Nothing.

I called Lori in a panic. I’m having an emergency. Help!

Lori, ever the voice of reason, told me to calm done after she realized it was me calling and not one of her kids. She offered to lend me her Garmin but I was too distraught to go pick it up.

Then she said something I should have done to begin with ask Google what to do. And there was my answer โ€“  Do a soft or hard reset. Like a charm it worked.

I was so relieved. I do not want to shell out $200 for a new Garmin. Not one bit. I’ve had mine for 3 years now and I am hoping it lasts for a few more.

After my drama filled morning, I set out for this week’s 16 km LSD. I ran the usual route โ€“โ€“ to Heritage Ranch, on 32nd Street, through the trails, past the CPR bridge, to Kerry Wood Nature Centre and home.

I felt better this week. It’s nice to get those long runs in when the sun is shining. On Saturday, I did a hill repeat workout and a squat workout. My legs were hurting in a good way on Sunday.

I love the burn of a good hill workout. I love hills. Love them.

I promise myself I won’t overdo though. Once a week – that’s it.

Now if only I could find the love (or a partner) for tempo runs. Steven said he would help me with speed/temp but I think he’s changed his mind because I am so slow. Boo.

  1. I've done the reset a few times. About a year and a half after my first reset, my Garmin died for good. New one should be here any day now though! I would do tempo with you if I lived a smidge closer!

  2. Hey buddy. Yeah that would be great. I was having one of those "woe is me" days when I wrote that post. All is well now ๐Ÿ™‚
