Calgary marathon race organizers released the new route earlier this week. I wasn’t familiar with the previous route so it will all be new to me. My only concern is number of the water stations. There’s only eight. In New York, there was water at every station and I drank at nearly every station, especially in the last few miles.
I like the elevation chart –– not too hilly and there’s no big hill at the finish line. Hills will always be part of my training but I am happy to see I won’t be faced with a huge climb.
This marathon will be completely different than my New York experience. I have to keep this in the back of my mind and do not care the two races. I’m looking at this Calgary marathon as my first marathon on Canadian soil. I can’t wait.
Wow, I love the elevation profile. I like different types of marathons, you can appreciate the pro's from both. I carry my water to races if there is a lack of water stops. 8 is definitely on the low side.
THat's what I thought – on the low side. I'll have to experiment with different water strategies.
