Ushering out 2011 and Welcoming 2012

I said goodbye to my 2011 running season with a 6 km run after work. This year has been a blur. I moved to Red Deer for a new job. In many ways it is a better job for me but I’m not entirely happy. Hopefully this will change in 2012.

The big news is…. I ran my first marathon –– the NYC Marathon, one of the most popular marathons in the United States. What can I say? I like to start big.
It’s been a good year for running. I set a couple PRs and I reached my goal to run consistently.

The next year will bring new challenges both in my professional life and in my personal life. I have registered for two marathons and I am teaching a Learn to Run clinic through the Running Room. I’ll be keeping my eye on the job market again.

Five Random Resolutions for 2012:

1) Eat clean. I started this weeks ago. I am trying to reduce the amount of processed food I digest and curb my bread cravings. (Quick update: I am doing awesome. No toast for brekky or for snacks in weeks)

2) Stretch more. I say this every year, every month, every week, every day. Some time it will sink it.

3) Stay focused. I have terrible short term focus. My mind wanders easily. I forget things easily.

4) Strength training. Again I have already started this weeks ago.

5) Reduce television viewing. I’ve been watching way too much lately.
