I registered for two races – the Hypothermic Half and the Calgary Marathon. There’s no turning back now. I have to get my butt moving.
The half-marathon is at the end of February in Edmonton. A bunch of Grande Prairie runners will race too. Should be a good time. Carleigh will run her second half-marathon. Her first was two years ago in Edmonton with Wendy, Mike and myself. We had a great time. This time Jon will run with her. I’m really happy Carleigh is motivated to start running again. They bought a dreadmill so there’s no lame ass excuses!
In May, I’ll run my second marathon in Calgary. I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope to improve my time (significantly) by adding strength training and not getting injured! I have some big goals for next year but I am not going to share them with you just yet. You’ll just have to wait.
I haven’t figured out my race calendar completely for next year. A lot of it has to do with my terrible work schedule. When I worked at the Advocate, I worked two weekends a month. I don’t except this to change when I return next month. If all goes according to my secret plan, I won’t need to worry about scheduling my races around this inflexible schedule.
Until then I will continue to work on my lofty plans. I am waiting for Lana and Ashley to secure Dalton for our Sinister 7 team. Like the Death Race, I think this race will be one of the most challenging things I have done. We’re going to split up the 7 legs so that means I will have to do two. I am so up for the challenge.
Just remember, Carleigh was always at the finish line for you! She definitely couldn't have been there if she had been running…because she would be at McDonald's, eating her Happy Meal ๐
