run this way

I was blessed with truly nice weather for most of the day. The sun was shining and there was little wind. Perfect conditions for a winter run.

I remember when I first started running I overdressed nearly every time I stepped out the door. I had this fear of being cold. Now with nearly 3 running winters under my belt, I have my winter running attire down pat.

Here’s an old column  I wrote for the Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune on winter running and another on what to wear in the bitterly cold winter months.

I like to think I am pretty touch because I am a year round runner. Slipping on ice is my only concern. I know how to dress properly and I am not an idiot runner. Alot of people use those traxs on the bottom of their sneakers. I haven’t used them. And I have never fallen.

This afternoon I kept looking at my feet while I ran. I know it’s not the smartest thing to do but I was a little hesitant. I’m always a little gun shy at the start of a new season. Thankfully I didn’t fall and the only thing that hurts is my neck.

I stopped by the Running Room to see Lori. I was in luck. She was there with her crew unpacking and sorting merchandise. The new store opens next week with a Fill the Kettle Run for the local food bank. John Stanton will be there too. Fun times.
