Come on baby, make it hurt so good

I am going to hurt tomorrow. I just know it. Besides trying to curb my bagel habit, I’ve gone back to strength training. It’s been a very long time since I hit the weights seriously. When I lived in Ottawa, I worked out for many years at the Jack Purcell Centre. I even wore weight lifting gloves. Hardcore lifter. That was me. Now I am bonafide weakling.
I can barely press 50 pounds. I am so weak. Rather my upper body strength is bloody awful. I started with push ups yesterday. And I am sore today.
I can only imagine what I am going to feel like tomorrow after a full chest and back workout. (I’m dedicating shoulders and arms to one routine)
Eventually I want to get into Crossfit. There’s a gym in Red Deer that looks promising. However I want to use up my punch card at the gym before I invest in something else.
Watch me get stronger, people. Just watch me.
Now is the perfect time to turn my focus to strength training. It’s winter. I just ran a marathon. I don’t have any races planned until next year. And oh, it’s bloody cold.

  1. I used to lift weight when I belonged to a gym, but haven't gone in over 6 months. Now I have my physical therapist and doctor telling me I have to strength train, ugh, I better get moving! Good luck to you.

  2. Thanks Robin. It's tough to muster up enthusiasm. I'm hopeful after some results I will look forward to it.

  3. Weight training= good!
Crossfit= chance of being good, but high chance of injury. Be careful.
