No turning back

Tomorrow I will be on a plane to New York City. Time sure flies when you are tapering. My nerves have taken over and I am a bucket of crazy.

Can’t wait to see Audrey tomorrow. We’re meeting on the Edmonton flight. Our route is Edmonton to Toronto and then Toronto to Newark. We should arrive in New York sometime in the early evening. We wanted to get in the city a few days before the race to watch the parade and breathe in some of the marathon week atmosphere.
Truly this is going to be one experience we’ll never forget. On another blog,  Fit Chick in the City, I read Bart Yasso’s take on the starting line of the NYC Marathon.
In his words:
“This is as close to an Olympic event a non-professional athlete will ever get to participating in. You’ll line up at the start and cross the same start line as the world record holders and professionals do. You’ll be running the exact same race. It’s the largest sporting event in which you’ll get to be a participant and not a spectator. You will also be embarking on one of the most culturally diverse sporting events in the world and millions of people all over tune-in to watch you race.”

That’s enough to make a person’s belly do somersaults, non?
