Food and more food and 30km of fun

A Kenyan man ran the Berlin Marathon in 2:03:38 and broke the world record by 21 seconds. How is that even possible? I wonder if he’ll be able to walk tomorrow.

Because I am feeling a little sore after my 30 km jaunt around the city. I could barely move after the run so I went straight to bed after I rehydrated. I stretched and rolled out the legs this morning. And later I’ll take a walk with Lana.

I’m at 41 days and counting for my first marathon. Only three weeks left of hard training. I’m cleaning up my diet even more now. I’ve been doing really well eating good stuff. But I am still lacking in my water intake. I should set a timer on the iPhone.

I’ve switched up my brekky routine. I’ve started eating cereal or quinoa instead of my regular 2 slices of toast and coffee. I’ve also cut down on how much toast I eat. I know it’s weird but I love toast. When I was younger, I would just eat toast for dinner if I didn’t like what my mother put on the table.

Last night I ate tasty roasted yams for dinner. I had a lovely spinach salad for lunch.

Eating healthy comes easy to me. I really only eat poorly when I am pressed for time. As a vegetarian, you have to learn to make the right choices early on. I have weaknesses – beer and chips. But I am firm believer of the “everything in moderation” lifestyle.

Come hell or high water, I am going to the Farmers’ Market next weekend. There’s only 2 or 3 weekends left before it closes for the season. I got a glimpse of how popular it is last weekend when I was there on assignment.

I should have gone sooner but the hours do not work for me. The hours are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays only. I wish the hours were extended. But I understand the vendors head to another market in the afternoon.
