Right. That was me lying in that field

Tonight I planned a 10k tempo run. But a case of slight dehydration threw that plan to the wind. I ran 3k and suddenly I got this annoying cramp in my side. I got dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. I stopped running immediately and bent over to try to get some air.

I really felt like I would black out. I could see a few kids across the road at a playground. And a man slowed down in his car to see if I was okay. I just waved him off. I was too embarrassed to say anything. He circled a few times before taking off.

I decided to just lay on the ground for a minute or so to catch my breath and to cool down. I was sweating profusely all of a sudden too. By this time a couple on bikes stopped to see if I was going to live. I asked for water. They didn’t have any so I said don’t worry I am feeling better already. That was nice of them and the guy in the car.

I felt better after I breathed in and out for a few minutes. I called Audrey to chat on my walk home. I ate well today so I was a little surprised at my body’s reaction. Then it clicked. I think I drank one glass of water and four cups of coffee. And I drank a smoothie  half an hour before I started out. All not good.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. I need to snap out of this recklessness. I mean it’s not reckless but stupid. Water is my friend. I love water. I am drinking it now.

Tomorrow’s tempo run will be much better. Drink up.
