We started at Starbucks on 68th Ave. Lana, Tammy, Ashley and MOL were on schedule to run 34k. I knew in Buddha’s name I wasn’t going to run 34k. I ran with Wendy for part of the way before she turned at Wapiti Road. It was great to catch up with her. I haven’t seen her in a few weeks.
I kept running to Evergreen Park. When I reached the Park, I glanced at my Garmin. I was already at 12k. I felt pretty good so I knew I would at least run half a marathon (nine more kilometres). It also started to rain/snow. I didn’t mind. I had to keep adjusting my clothes to put on gloves and take off gloves.
I headed south on Resources Road, where I started to meet other runners. I wasn’t sure where the rest of the 13 MH Club runners were. Obviously they did not run to Evergreen Park like I thought they were. Oh well, I thought I will keep running. I reached 68th Ave and kept on heading south until I thought maybe I should turn around and run along 68th Ave to Starbucks. So I did that and I realized I was nearing the 21k mark. I still felt pretty good so I made a snap decision to run 24k. The others were running 34k so I might as well run 24k.
I was so glad, I brought my iPod. It was raining/snowing. I ran a few loops around the dog park area, back to Starbucks. I was soaked. I fumbled for my keys, grabbed my purse and headed into the coffee shop.
I needed coffee. I didn’t stay long. I just wanted out of my wet clothes. I drove home freezing. A quick shower and I felt instantly better.
It is still raining.
