A few pics at the start of the Canadian Death Race

The start of the Canadian Death Race. See the guy in blue? He was the first male soloist across the line in 12:45. He broke a new record. Amazing! The first female soloist came in at 13:30 or so. She also broke a new record.

Amber Hunter at the start of the race. Doesn’t she look cute? I was wondering how long that smile would remain on her face. I saw her again at the leg 3/4 exchange and she was still smiling (sorta).
And here’s Mike Serediak of Grande Prairie smiling his way through the first bit of leg 1. This was  Mike’s first Death Race.
That’s Jen and Delaine’s friend Kevin, also from Grande Prairie. I don’t know him, however,  when you live in a small town, everybody knows everybody in a roundabout way. I bumped into him on leg 2. He has a black bib, indicating he’s a soloist. There were more than 400 soloists entered into the race this year. Only 149 finished. That just shows how challenging this course is.
Of course, there were a few races who went the theme. Not sure how long the paint remained on his face. Leg 1 was the shortest and of the 5-part relay. The average runner finished around two hours.
