take that cloud of gloom

You can tell when I am off work – a rapid succession of blog posts. Usually short and sweet about nothing much. So I was feeling a little gloomy today. I had already got an hour of walking and half hour of stretching in. I didn’t really need to run. But it was Friday and I promised myself I would run every Friday in my Vibram FiveFingers.

And here they are. (Please ignore my fat ankles). I put them on around 3 o’clock. Then I went for a short run. I ended up at the Leisure Centre track. I ran mindlessly around the oval. It was a nice change up from trying to figure out where I was going to run next.
I really love the feeling when I am running on the grass. My feet like they are smacking the pavement and it annoys the heck out of me. I know I will get used to it but tonight I didn’t want the annoyance. Running around the track felt good too. I wasn’t doing any speed work or anything complicated. I just ran at a nice easy pace and it felt good.
I don’t feel gloomy anymore. I feel awake. Sometimes all it takes is a rush of the happy hormones to put a smile on your face (or a bottle of wine).
