So I showed up to work yesterday without applause but much surprise. Apparently I wasn’t due back until Monday. So I spent the morning cleaning out my inbox and readying myself for next week. I had a doctor’s appointment at noon. After that I came back to the office, grabbed my laptop and quietly left.
Most of the afternoon, I cleaned my apartment. Funny I thought it was clean when I left. Hmm…I went for a very windy run (5K) and then walked for half an hour. It’s bloody cold here. Nothing like the plus 15 it was when I left Ontario. I am full of regret that I didn’t buy gloves and warmer clothes. I let the warm weather in Ontario cloud my reality. It’s bloody cold in northern Alberta.
Much of my day was spent watching tennis and football. Now I am getting ready to watch Hockey Night in Canada. I know boring.
But that’s my weekend life in Grande Prairie.
I pulled out my old portfolio and resumes. Both need desperate updates. Good thing I have lots of time on my hands! Don’t get me wrong, I am somewhat happy to be back. I truly missed the writing and reporting while I was jaunting around Ottawa and Montreal. In fact, I started writing in my journal again. If you were with me last year, you will remember in a fit of rage I threw out a bunch of old journals dating back to way back when I was dating the asshole.
I know now that writing on the blog isn’t enough to feed my creative side. Last night alone, I wrote five pages of endless dribble about my feelings. Thankfully no one will ever read my journals. Because if they did they might think I’m a little bit of crazy.
