New York native Matt Monarch has been a raw vegan for eight years. He spoke for about an hour about how the raw lifestyle changed his life for the better. He didn’t give away too many “secrets” as he saved all the juicy details for his book, Raw Spirit. His talk was entertaining and interesting but not enough so to convince me to be a raw foodist.
What’s a raw food festival without a raw pie contest? Looks good, doesn’t it? Hard to believe that these pies are made completely with raw ingredients.
“Cooks” took their work seriously. The judges sampled close to twenty pies. After the juding people were given samples of the tasty pies. After the lineups died down, we managed to sample some. Yum!
Pei-ju and I sampled this “sushi” dish. It was awesome. Completely raw but awesome. I don’t know what was in the sushi roll but the sauce was to die for. A nice carrot salad was on the side.
