We made a venue change for our monthly book club meeting. While we discussed our books, we ate at the vegetarian buffet in Seomyeon. Although I live so close to this buffet, it was my first time there because I could never find the dang place. It’s in some alley near the bookstore. I quite enjoyed the veggie variety and soy-based dishes. Too bad I am leaving in a few weeks, it would be my new favorite place to dine.
Getting back to our meeting, it was short and sweet. None of us, myself included, seem to be deep thinkers, either that or we forget what the books were about. It’s been so long since I read either book. We discussed The Snack Thief and The Zahir. Both books couldn’t be further away from each other in terms of genre and plot. The book I chose, I liked, while the other one was too bland and boring for me. I’m not a big fan of detective novels with recycled plots. Besides there wasn’t much to say about it.
Later in the afternoon, I met Andrew for dinner. We went to the ninth floor in Judie’s Taewae. I have not been there in a long time. I ate too much and drank too much. Following our overconsumption we went to Lotte to watch a movie. Not much was playing so we saw, Ms. Potter, Beatrix Potter to be exact, who wrote those Peter Rabbit’s children’s book. The movie ran for roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes. Talk about low on plot. The beginning was good but the rest of the movie fizzled.
