a few acres of snow and a heck of a lot of rain

Philosopher Voltaire once dismissed Canada as “nothing more than a few acres of snow.” This is one of the tidbits I have learned in my pursuit of a higher knowledge of Canadian history. I am proud to say that since this 17th century crack, that Canada has evolved into something much more than snow fields.

This Canadian spent the day teaching middle school Korean students how to write an essay in preparation for the test of english as a foreign language. My students were quite good, and they laughed at my jokes so what more could I ask for in a two-hour Saturday night class.

It’s been raining all day. We might be getting a typhoon coming from Japan in the next couple of days. Hopefully it won’t hit. I have been fortunate that in all the time I’ve been here no diasterous weather-related events have occurred.

Rain can be depressing but I choose not to look at it that way. I am looking at all this way. Rain can be liberating, but don’t get me wrong, I’ve just about had it with this damn rainy season. I am just saying it’s giving me the oportunity to stay inside and relax. I run around enough all week so I should take it easy on my one day off.
