Despite the overnight bus trip from hell, I made it to Bangkok this morning at 5:30. I sat beside a Japanese guy who was in Thailand looking for a girlfriend. He’s been here nine times, and I assume he’s had many girlfriends. We chatted a bit and then I tried to sleep. It was like trying to sleep on a rollercoaster ride with special effects. Thunder and lightening bounded all around. I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best.
The VIP bus let everyone off on Khao San Road. Thankfully I found a guesthouse right away and I went for a four hour nap. They overcharged me for an a/c room but I am just happy I have a clean place with hot water for the night. Tomorrow I will move down the street to a cheaper guest house. I need to save my money so I can shop!
My plans today consist of orienting myself to Bangkok and light sightseeing. I haven’t decided how long I am staying here. I’m going to play it by ear.
