So I am at Maenam beach in Ko Samui. It was sad to leave my two-day love affair and bungalow full of geckos but I did it and I was rewarded with semi-paradise. Now I’m staying in a bungalow that is just a few steps inland from the beach. This morning I got up early and had a nice swim. The water in the Gulf of Thailand is much calmer than the Andaman Sea. It’s beautiful to relax with nobody trying to sell me something every three seconds.
Ko Samui is Thailand’s third largest island, and so it’s nice to see a different island as Phuket clearly had package trips written all over it. Now I’m able to see Thai children playing and fishermen throwing their nets out into the water. Once again I chose the quietest beach on the island. I’m not here to go shopping. I’ll save that for Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
