What goes around comes around

We had a native teacher staff meeting today. It wasn’t so bad. I was worried that there would be a list complaints directed my way. Luckily this wasn’t the case. One of the main points was discipline. Jake told us to be tougher with the students. Kick them out of the class, tell them to go home or send them to his office if they didn’t do their homework. Geez I don’t know if I can be any meaner to the kids without sending a few of them to the hospital.

Yet my main concern are the parents that will complain if we punish their children. But I have to do what I am told! ๐Ÿ™‚ As much as I enjoy inflicting pain (verbal of course) on my students, I honestly hate yelling at them. It takes a lot of energy out of me. Now this school isn’t like my previous contract, where I yelled more than I taught, but the occasion does arise when I do have to raise my voice. Maybe this new policy will gain us more respect as “teachers” Because quite frankly there isn’t much respect blowing in our direction lately.

We will also have a separate Native Teachers Room. At first, I didn’t like the thought of being separated from the Korean teachers but now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I believe it won’t be so bad. Lately, my complaint has been the lack of privacy. With the four of us tucked neatly in the back, we won’t have to deal with constant student interruptions and the jungle gym hallways.
