My dodgey ankle started to give me grief on Sunday after I finished my two runs. I started the morning on the treadmill then finished on the trails. I’m not exactly sure what happened but it sure hurt. Maybe it was the asphalt? Maybe I landed wrong? I just picked up new shoes to replace my deader than deader sneakers so that can’t be it.
I am sure it’s not serious. I am determined to get back at it this week. My ankle is finally gaining back its mobility. I don’t have time for another prolonged bout of ankle problems.
Monday is my usual gym and rest (from running) day so I didn’t lace up my sneakers. As I watch the snow fall outside, I am thinking it is wise that I take a consecutive rest day.
In non-related ankle news ….
Someone smack me. I signed up for the Coulee Cactus Crawl in Lethbridge on June 1. I don’t know what I was thinking. Yes, I do – the race entry was less than $40 and it would be great training for Elk Valley and Lost Soul.
But it’s a 40K run in the coulees. Translation: It’s a 40K but it will feel like 50K. It’s a month away. I definitely do not have the mileage in to have a good showing. However I feel good about my hill training.
The race starts at noon, which makes it even more exciting. (Man I could be running all night). It’s snowing today – April 30 – so it could be snowing on June 1st. Who knows? I won’t concern myself with the heat.
It’s not going to be a pretty run. However it will be great training for Elk Valley in July and Lost Soul in September. I need a good kick in the butt and I am confident this race will do just that.
