Long weekend: Get outside

A long weekend always means I get to spend more time outside immersed in nature – and away from computer screens and the hustle and bustle of city life.

It’s a great way to hit refresh.

I met up with Vickie on Thursday who was in Calgary for her husband Jason’s work thing. We decided to hike Prairie Mountain. She had never climbed the mountain so I thought would be a nice short one to do.

Vickie says the mountains in Kananaskis trump the mountains in Slave Lake.

Nearly all the snow was gone. It was a little muddy at the top

Friday – Lady MacDonald

This is Lady MacDonald.
I set out to hike Lady MacDonald on Friday. Rain and snow were threatening.

I didn’t take too many photos but I like this one of the trees.

Without fail, I always seem to run into someone from Central Alberta in the mountains who knows my running columns or we follow one another on Strava. Crazy times.

Doesn’t this just take your breath away?
Bowmont Nature Reserve in Calgary
There were a herd of sheep on the other side of this rock in the valley. Sorry no picture.

Saturday – In my neighbourhood

What a glorious view of the Bow River. I stayed close to home so I could get stuff done.
All along the Bow River
I ran along the river. Several people were fishing.

Not too original today. It’s been a few weeks since I last ventured to West Bragg.

The highlight of my morning was spotting several deer.

Sometimes the photos say more than words ever could. So thank you for dropping by. I hope you had a wonderful long weekend.
